Stephen A. Schwarzman and Peter Peterson launched the portfolio management and financial advisory firm Blackstone Group in 1985. Obviously, the Blackstone Group is today among the world’s most lucrative M & A companies.
Having called Philadelphia home for much of his childhood, Stephen A. Schwarzman went to school in the School District of Abington. When he graduated from high school he chose to study further at the well known Yale University in Connecticut and obtained his bachelor’s degree in 1969. Harvard Business School was the next step in his education, where he received his Master’s degree in Business Administration in 1972. Once he had finished his time at college, Stephen commenced his job at Lehman Brothers investment bank. By his 32nd birthday he was already on the board. Not only does Stephen give of his time to a variety of not for profit organizations, but he has also served as a non-faculty professor at Yale. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in New York, NY. Furthermore, Stephen recently contributed to the New York Public Library 100 million dollars to back their building project. In fact they named one of their recently renovated buildings after him.
Stephen A. Schwarzman is an inspiration to a new generation of Americans — last year he was listed amongst Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on the planet in acknowledgement of his many achievements.
