The Planets and What They Mean in Astrology
As a novice member of the “astrology club” you are probably aware of the basics including the 12 signs of the zodiac (i.e. Gemini, Capricorn, and Sagittarius) but you may not know what makes these signs do what they do. There are a lot of astrological influences in the universe that have an influence on whatever sign you were born under, but many don’t know that a lot of that influence comes from planets. The movement of planets in astrology is what creates your temperament and mood extremes and can even give people born under the same sign different personalities if they were born under different planetary influences. In addition, planetary movement is said to make a difference in the evolution of human consciousness. Let’s look at this dynamic more closely.
Are you an avid follower of astrology? Do you love those planets and signs and can’t wait to find when someone’s birthday is so that you can predict his or her future? If this describes you then you probably won’t need to read this article because you already know all there is to know in this arena. However, if you’re not as familiar but would like to learn more then you’re in the right place.
Planets in Astrology. Unlike the actual number of planets found in our solar system, there are said to be 10 planets in astrology. Those planets are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, the Sun and the Moon – Earth is not included because it is where we live. Some astrologers believe that it is the gravitational pull of the planets in relation to Earth that have a direct influence on human behavior, while others cannot attribute the influence to anything in particular.
The relationship that planets and signs have in the astrological world can be a little bit complicated, but to clear it up some, here is a brief explanation. There are 12 Sun signs that you can be born under, depending on the month and day you were born. For example, if you were born on November 18th you are a Scorpio – this is your sun sign. However, all of the other astrological planets were positioned somewhere in the sky at your time of birth also, and where they were positioned helps determine what sign they were in. So, for example, I know that when I was born, Mars was positioned in the sky so that it would be assigned to Leo; this means I was born with Mars in Leo. According to astrology, Mars is an aggressive planet and Leo can be an aggressive sign.
